Working at ESAG
The founder, Easa Saleh Al Gurg, was an eminent person who excelled in various fields of activity such as politics, business and diplomacy. He was known and admired for his sharp intellect and professionalism. He founded the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group in 1960 with extensive experience in banking and finance. The business began with the acquisition of the sole distributor of Grundig in the United Arab Emirates, followed by the representation rights of British American Tobacco.
Over the past five decades, many other blue-chip brands, real estate, retail, commercial and manufacturing divisions have been added to the group’s extensive portfolio. In addition to his commercial interests, His Majesty also played an important role in shaping the history of the United Arab Emirates as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Trucial States Development Office.
In 1971, he was appointed Director General of the Trucial States Development Board. From 1991 to 2009, he was ambassador to Great Britain and Ireland. He was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Most Outstanding Order of the British Empire) in 1990. After retiring as ambassador, His Excellency was awarded the KCVO (Knight Commander of the British Empire). Royal Victoria Order) of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain.
