Headquartered in Riyadh, it was founded in 1994 by six business families with experience in real estate development in response to housing demand from the rapidly growing Saudi population. Dar Al-Arkan is also involved in the acquisition, development, construction, maintenance, demolition and restructuring of residential and commercial buildings.
From July 2002 to January 2004, Dar Al-Arkan operated as a limited liability company with a capital base of $ 140 million (US $ 37 million).
Dar Al-Arkan increased its capital to SR5.4 billion (US $ 1.4 billion) in 2004 through a private placement in the domestic market. After private placement, in 2005, Dar Al-Arkan was converted into a joint stock company (ie a company with at least five shareholders, limited to selling their shares (except for one another) and can be listed on the Saudi Stock Exchange for two years).
In addition to the head office in Riyadh, the KSA has offices and branches throughout Makkah, Jeddah and Medina. In total, Dar Al-Arkan has seven branches and more than 300 employees.
