A determination from the QP documents
The principal well, Dukhan 1, was penetrated in 1939. Improvement proceeded after World War II and in 1949 the main rough fares happened and the primary seaward concessions were conceded. In 1960, the Idd Al-Shargi and Maydan Mahzam fields were found. The biggest seaward field, Bul Hanine, was found in 1970 and came onstream in 1972. Qatar Petroleum was made in 1974.
